Something for everyone A diverse and unique collection of some 30,000 exhibits, carefully collected over a period of almost 50 years, has been painstakingly displayed afresh, alongside many non motoring additions, in fully DDA compliant, state-of-the-art premises, with a beautiful riverside setting. This ia a museum that whilst oozing nostalgia, looks at the future of motoring in terms of electric cars. Learn how it is possible to offset the carbon emissions from burning wood, against the carbon uptake of trees during their growth. The museum is located on the site of the former Backbarrow Blue Mill, which closed in the early 1980’s and is best remembered for the manufacture of the washing additive ultramarine pigment, an optical brightening agent often referred to as Dolly Blue.
