The Café in the Forest is one of the best places to eat and relax in the Lake District. The fabulous new café offers not just one but four eating spaces:

a great country kitchen for the outdoor enthusiast
a restaurant with a stunning huge picture window into the forest
a chic coffee shop corner
a beautiful outdoor terrace to enjoy your meal as well as the natural scenery

Enjoy a variety of hot meals and salads, childrens’ meals, sandwiches, soups and cakes with a wide range of teas and coffees served by a friendly and professional team. The Café also serves ice creams and a range of takeaway snacks from the ‘hatch’ if you don’t have time to sit down. All the food is homemade using the best of local produce. So whatever your tastes or dietary requirements you will be well catered for. We are also very happy to cater for private or corporate parties. …and a spacious, natural children’s playground so you can sit back, relax and enjoy.

9.30 am to 5 pm (5.30 pm for take away service)

Cycling. A great day out for all levels of cyclist. There are a range of waymarked trails that lead the cyclist around the forest, on forest roads and tracks.

The North Face Trail. Offers a rush of curves, berms and north shore, uphill and downhill which takes riders on an adventure trail through Grizedale Forest.

Walking. internationally renowned for sculpture in the forest, Grizedale Forest offers the complete day out with an extensive range of waymarked paths, picnic areas, forest roads, tracks and bridleways.

Sculpture. An exciting introduction to visual arts, there is a range of walking and cycling trails for all abilities with sculptures on them, including the award winning Ridding Wood Trail which is accessible for all.

Go Ape. Built on a side of a hill, it feels seriously high. Fly 200 metres across the top of the Grizedale Beck and marvel at the forest canopy 18 metres up a magnificent Douglas Fir.

The Café is located in Grizedale Forest. Hawkshead is the nearest village.
