A Family Day Out to Remember
The railway was closed down under the Beeching Report. Following rebuilding, it now runs between Embsay Station (built in 1888) and the award-winning Bolton Abbey Station (recreated from scratch), through picturesque Yorkshire Dales scenery. From Bolton Abbey Station it is a pleasant 11/2 mile walk to the ruins of the 12th Century Bolton Priory. The Railway has a café, giftshops and free parking for passengers. Embsay Station also houses the famous transport bookshop.
Nearly all services are steam-hauled and feature a Buffet Car serving a wide selection of locally produced bottle-conditioned beers.
