During your visit, you’ll have the chance to get ‘hands on’ with several of the exhibits in our spacious indoor museum. Kids can climb on the footplate of a steam engine, move the levers and blow the whistle, then climb in the guard’s van and wave the flag. Over in the workshop, you’ll gain a rare ‘behind the scenes’ glimpse of the work in progress by our volunteer workforce. The unique blend of Victorian techniques and modern technology produce some astonishing results! Visit our ‘Made in Preston’ exhibition in the museum, celebrating the City’s role in the development of diesel and electric trains. Did you know that electric motors made in Preston still power many trains all over the world? Come and see DELTIC - Britain’s first 100mph diesel locomotive - which was built only a few yards away.
