If you are looking to combine a truly great day out with a fascinating insight into the workings of a Victorian brewery then look no further than Theakston’s famous Masham brewery. Considered an icon in the British brewing world, our ‘new’ brewery was completed in 1875 and has been in constant use ever since. It is here that we brew the world famous cask beer Old Peculier along with all our other award winning cask ales. Some of the vessels we use every day were installed when the brewery was first built all those years ago and still to this day help create the unique character of our beers. And if that were not enough then why not come and see the only remaining full-time working craft cooperage left in the Country, where we make our wooden casks from pieces of oak crafted into the finished item. If you don’t see our Master Cooper then you may see his apprentice beavering away at his ‘Block’ or ‘Bick Iron’. Our Visitor Centre shop crammed with branded souvenirs and gifts (perfect for every occasion) together with our bar, which is warmed by a real log fire, has on sale all our famous beers for you to sample and enjoy.
